Super Singer news in The Hindu and "Vallavan"

The Hindu has an article that talks about the contest in the upcoming episode of Vijay TV's super singer.

Is Simbu a good choice for this show? I don't think so. Have you heard his singing in the latest Vallavan? That kind of singing would have been rejected in the first round of Super Singer! There is a remix of the song "kaadhal vandhirichchu" (from Kalyanaraman) and he makes a mess of it -- funny song does not mean that he can go off key! And what is up with Yuvan and remixes? (that is the topic of a separate blog I guess..)

Who wins the title? (Super Singer)

Huddle up to your TV sets to watch the final episode of the super singer contest, to be aired on Vijay TV, June 30 and July 1 at 20.00.

This one-hour show will have the final 12 contestants who are required to sing two songs to be set in a tone far from the original track. They are expected to sing "Manmadha Raasa" and "Poralae Ponnuthaayi," the former with a melancholic touch and the latter with a cheerful note. To add verve to the competition, the show will have actor Silambarasan, who judges the winners and gifts them a gold coin.

To make the viewers be a part of the selection committee, each contestant is given a code number. The singer whom the viewers think will fit the bill can type the contestants' respective code numbers and send it to 6464. For televoting, they can call numbers from 646301 to 646312. For online voting, viewers can log on to http://vijay.indya.com.

Divided into two groups with six members in each, the number of contestants gets reduced from 12 to eight with each round. The final round will have four contestants.

Be a part of the elimination team and see who wins the most coveted title, `Super Singer.'
