RaginiSri -- Relive and Revive!

It was unfortunate to see Ragini be ousted in the semi finals round. RaginiSri has a lot of talent and versatility, but she lacked the confidence. Unfortunately, it looked like she started to believe all the negative criticism and comments. Instead of proving that she could sing all types of songs, she just accepted that she had limitations. I still believe she can sing all the melodies and typical heroine songs if she wants to.

She unfortunately attributes her good and bad performances to others -- like her trainers, judges etc. She tends to forget that ultimately she is the one with the talent and who is doing a great job. It is not the trainer who was singing, it was RaginiSri. It is not her family members or the judges on the stage, it is only her RaginiSri on stage. Once she realizes that there will be no stopping.

As Ananthji said in the program "her voice is the future of playback singing". It is not enough for Ananth to say it, RaginiSri has to believe that statement to make it a reality.

I was glad that she came back in those recall rounds. I absolutely loved her performance of "ellaam inba mayam" and "vegam vegam pogum pogum magic journey" in the Classical and Uravugal rounds. It was magical to hear her go through those difficult numbers.

As a personality it is very clear that she loves music. She appreciates anybody's singing and enjoys it. It is always a treat to watch her when others are singing on the stage. It shows her humility and love for music. A truly likeable personality.

Hope she picks up the pieces and comes back with a bang in the wild card round before the grand final. She can beat the other three in so many different genres if they go face to face in the final round. She is capable. She just has to believe in it.

Her lack of confidence was very evident when she was singing in front of singer Chitra in one of the earlier rounds. Chitra pointed that immediately and said that her posture and facial expressions screamed out: "please eliminate me!". That was very true. This was the major reason for her bad performances earlier in the program. She has to change her body language and show more confidence. She just has to remember what a capable singer she is and was earlier.

I have seen her in other program, especially the one where she was singing with SPB. She was so cheerful there. She was so confident. She did not hold back on anything. I remember her "dol dol thaan" and being completely blown away. I would recommend her to go and view those videos of her singing with SPB. She needs to relive those magical moments; she needs to revive the magic again!

Good luck RaginiSri!

Some of her memorable songs for me:

Duet with Ravi in Super Singer. Look at the involvement and enjoyment!

Dol Dol Thaan in other program with SPB. (look how cheerful she is here! Please go back to being this RaginiSri!)

The absolutely beautiful "Vegam Vegam" in super singer (the phrase "kaana kaan inbam inbam" was vintage Usha Uthup style!)

"Elaam inba mayam" in the classical round. Absolute delight!

  1. But as a person she seemed to carry herself very well-very confident and not bending over backwards to please the judges. Maybe the judges did not like that aspect of her!

Also, her voice seemed to be different than the rest.

Not sure how Ajesh makes it to every round-he sings well, but not well enough that he gets selected over RaginiSri or Ranjani!

  2. Anon,

Ajesh does seem unimpressive when you watch him in the programs. Listen to his songs without watching the screen, just put on head phones and listen to his voice and how he sings. It is very effective. I am not comparing him to others in the program just commenting on his singing alone. He does have a smooth gliding voice. But it would be harsh to push him into playback singing at this stage. He might be sidelined or disappointed with himself if pushed into the limelight too soon. He is capable but not ready yet.

  3. PannPriyan, ditto on ajeesh. i actually do listen to ajeesh without watching him, hence the awe with his voice. he does have a long way to go. but you know how it is, you can study as long as you want but till you enter into working life, you progress is only that much. he will just have to start.

  4. Agree akshi, Ajesh has to start somewhere. But if he fails at the beginning there may not be a second chance in the film industry! People love winners! especially the ones that succeed the first time.

  5. I like Raginishri's performances except for a few, she really did well. Only thing is she has to practice more in the base. Then she will be able to shine in melody also. She was telling about some blogs where her personality was being damaged. I tell you Ragini, just ignore them. Those who are criticizing are good for nothing people. This competition is open to public. Why they didn't take part? Even if they did, they would not have got selected. They only know to demoralise and criticise others nothing constructive. Just ignore them and do well in your wild card round. Wish you good luck dear.

  6. i was watching the videos posted by pannpriyan. Couldnt help noticing how pretty raagini was. perhaps that was part of the reason for all the negativity on the blogs. i have seen especially some rather crude and vulgar comments on youtube. all this must be very disturbing.

what raagini needs to prove now is that she can sing playback female songs. the heroine kind. i think she can. it will sound different but that's the point. she has a unique voice. there are quite a few songs rendered on super singer, which i feel were more pleasing that the originals. look luck raagini

  7. I liked all the performances done by Raginisri. When people accepted LR Easwari, Banumathy, Bombay Jayshree, Shuba they all had unique voice why not Raginisri. When i saw her in the initial days in the show, it looked like she was a bit hard nut to crack and was looking a bit egoistic. But later I found her to be very timid and less confident. The kind of confidence she had when she sang Ellam Inba Mayam or Dhol Dhol was incredible confidence, while i felt that she was restraining herself from coming out during several other performances. This is the first time i am blogging, i tried to watch all the performances of Raginisri in the we,b as i am traveling, i was searching for the ellam inba mayam song (original), it was Ragini's performance which came to my mind and i got hold of Nithyashree's performance and later i came to this blog and could locate Ragini's performance. Phew what a change, I would discount Nithyashree's performance by 50% when compared with Ragini. Keep it up Ragini, all you need is only confidence.

  8. i dont agree to you all... compared to other super singers ragini sr's performance was very bad in most of the rounds and also she doesnt have a proper breathe control, and cracks occuring in her voice... she should not be selected for wild card round itself... ranjani, prassana and vijay are worth to go to finals... first preference can be given to ranjani since she sings equal to renu... rgini sri must not be selected for the finals in the wild card round... most of the general public doesnt like ragini's performamnce... now its all in the audiences hand wheather not to select her or to select her... anyway i would like to wish ranjani all the best...

  9. Raginisri has the best attitude of the whole team. Maintain that raginisri. Her plus is her humility. She nevers takes the credits to her head. Keep it up. But trying to be humble, do not give up your confidence. There is nobody who can do better than u in girls. Choose unique songs like u did for the wildcard round. You can rock babe!!!All the very best!!!

  10. Mukunth, you are right about the acceptance of others singers with unique voices but finding fault with RaginiSri for not being a 'normal heroine' voice! The question should be: Can the others in the finals to sing songs like RaginiSri?

The original "Ellam Inba Mayam" was a female duet! It was sung by P Leela and MLV. RaginiSri handled all that single handedly! Listen to the original Ellam Inba Mayam at the hummaa.com site.

  11. People dont fight...the wildcard winner has already been determined and its not solely on the votes. There is a lot more twists coming in the next few weeks..And I personally think the contestant that has been noticed by music directors and legends like Chitra and others definitely is the best singer in this competition.

  12. Raaginisri,

Among all contestants in super singer i like you only, What a voice you are having,
You did a good comeback with wild card round,

  15. It was really a pity that Raaginisri was eliminated.I am of the opinion that her singing Ellam Inbamayam,is even more pleasant to listen than the original, perhaps due to the youthfulness.

I wish her all the best.
